Use of Aldara Cream

When you buy aldara cream in your local pharmacy store, be sure to be ready to be looked upon by people who know what the cream is all about. This medication is all about the treatment of the human papilloma virus or better known as genital warts. A medical case such as this is very serious as the contraction of the virus is considered as one form of sexually transmitted disease. But the whole association of this cream with a sexually transmitted disease is all wrong.

Generally, for home users of this cream, they only know that the use of aldara cream is only for the treatment of genital warts but further reading reveals that this cream is also used to treat actinic keratosis, which is a precursor to skin cancer if left untreated. Another use of this cream is for the treatment of superficial basal cell carcinoma, which is another precursor to skin cancer. For this, the cream is applied to the area where the malignant cancer-causing agents are located. Although the cream has been proven to have skin cancer-preventing properties, one should not rely on it 100% due to the fact that the success rates have been found to be only at 50%. It may or not cure or prevent malignant skin tumors or other cancer precursors. Furthermore, the side effects of this drug include inflammation of the skin in the area where the cream was applied, fever, nausea and sensitivity or susceptibility to ultra violet light. It is advised that when an individual who uses this cream experiences the aforementioned side effects, the use of this cream should be minimized or discontinued.

Though one can still use aldara cream for treatment of the aforementioned medical conditions, it is still best to be supervised by doctors during its use as this drug has very ill side effects that one might experience when using this cream on their medical conditions.
